Where to even start
You’re getting everything ready for your summer marketing (or fall, depending on industry) in order, and you know you -need- content to round it out. Maybe some photos, maybe some videos for the campaign, not just infographics. You’ve got your vision of good, but now what comes first on making this campaign a reality? A plan.
Having framework for the ads can be incredibly helpful in saving costs. Think of those fantastic Banana Republic or other fashion ads you see. No one says “Let’s charter a sailboat and see what we get!” The lighting, framing, direction and making sure the crew can capture the stills and video needed isn’t something you can just drop into, but has to be planned out. How do we get that plan, how do we get clarity on the frames we want for the ads?

Storyboards don't have to be complex, but they can provide a helpful framework. By creating a storyboard, you can plan elements like leading lines and how the image will complement the text. While storyboarding may seem daunting, it's quite manageable for smaller ads.
Begin by identifying the sizes you'll be using for promotion, such as posters, social media posts, and magazine ads. Consider how your ad and imagery will fit into these spaces and compete for attention. Once you know the image sizes, it becomes easier to fill in the other elements. Think about how much space the image will occupy, where the copy and logos will go, and whether leading lines are needed to connect the image with the text. By planning these elements, you can guide viewers through your marketing funnel.
